Here's the description from our last event so you can get an idea of the fun that's involved!
The Bon Temps Relay is a Scavenger Hunt/ Pub Crawl that takes place throughout different parts of New Orleans. For our last, Bon Temps Relay, Ernst Cafe was our "home base"! Teams can consist of anywhere between 2-6 players and all players must be 21 years or older.
We typically start at our host location, where we will have drink specials for participants all day! From 12:30pm to 1:30pm participants will meet up to fill out their waivers, sign in and receive their wristbands - you MUST have your license or ID with you. At 1:30pm the rules of the game will be read to the group and at 2pm, the teams will receive their packet of clues and will be set out into the city. Be aware that Flip Cup MIGHT play an important part in the order you receive your clues!!
Each clue will lead you to a bar, restaurant, hotel or business within a 5 - 7 (ISH) block radius - This year we will move horizontally across the city (a bit of the warehouse district, a bit of the CBD and a bit of where we started in the Decatur area)! At each stop, your clue will give you an activity to complete, a drink to drink, or even a landmark to find. A photograph or video has to be taken of the entire team completing each task and, all photos and videos must be uploaded to Instagram with the hashtag #bontempsrelay and you have to "check in" or tag the spot that you're at. The clue cards will tell you everything you need to know at each stop and everything you need to do, so hold on to those clue cards!
In the past, participants have had to take a scorpion shot from Lucy’s, play flip cup, corn hole and beer pong, solve a puzzle at the escape room and so much more. This year, the activities will be similar but we are keeping the heat in mind so we won't have as many outdoor games - don't worry, we're compensating with some interesting stops and small twists, so be prepared!!!
And do not forget about the two most important pieces of the day - COSTUMES and PRIZES!!!!
This year, we will be voting for the best costume BEFORE the relay begins so make sure you are at Ernst by 1pm so your team can participate and cast their vote!!
What are we playing for? $5 of every ticket sold will go to the charity of the winning team’s choice! Plus, here are some other fun prizes up for grabs: a gift card to a Creole Cuisine Restaurant, Brennan's Restaurant and Poydras and Peter Restaurant and a one-night stay at the Loew's hotel!!!
So get your team together and start thinking about your costume and the charity you are playing for!
